Man, was it hot! Spring sure was warming up, and it would probably be Summer soon. At least, that's what he thought it would be. It was a little hard to tell when you couldn't see, but he did know that Caset was shedding. A lot. Surely that meant that Summer was coming, right? Either way, it meant a couple of months away from that hell hole of a school.

Pale fingers clutched on to the claws of said giant bear, slightly protruding teeth biting down on his bottom lip. Darkness surrounded him, making moving from school to his house very difficult. At least he had Casey there to make sure he didn't fall flat on his face. As if on cue, the raven haired boy tripped over his own feet, squeaking, only to be caught by his Ursaring. He let out a nervous laugh, muttering a soft thank you to the normal type. He should probably be more careful. Casey wasn't going to be around forever...

Continuing on his way, he pushed his black framed glasses up to the bridge of his nose. They did nothing to help him, but he liked the feeling of the glasses on his face. He would probably look weird without them, so that was another reason. Dakota took a deep breath in, loving the soft breeze that carried many scents from the nearby routes.

Krsssch, krsssch, krsssch. . . They steady sound of wheels drifted down the sidewalk. Someone was leisurely coasting along on a worn skateboard. While his face was a mask of indifference, relief shone in hidden eyes. He figured right about now the principal was probably having an aneurysm when she realized he wasn’t at detention, yet again. As if he’d ever sit through that torture. Even if he’d have to wait to go home for a little while. His mom probably was on the phone with the principal right now. Which meant she would have her usual lecture raring to go. Maybe I’ll run off on Cal for a few hours, he mused.

Suddenly, he noticed a hulking Pokémon ahead that was taking up most of the sidewalk. Clinging to it was a boy who just about. . .tripped. Well then. If he had actually paid attention to the pair, he might’ve recognized them from school. But, well, he doesn’t. He leaned slightly, moving over to pass them. “There’s a hole,” he said, to the uncoordinated boy as he rolled on by. Sadly, it wasn’t the other boy who needed the warning. Now he was lying on his stomach, hands sprawled out in front of him. He mumbled something into the concrete, spitting a speck of blood onto the pavement.

Way to go, Felix.

His body tensed as the sound of small wheels against the concrete grew louder and louder. Was someone coming? Hopefully they would go around them. Hopefully. They better. It'd be a mess, otherwise. He bit down on his lower lip, tightening his grip on the bear's large paw. They better pass them--

There's a hole.

Huh? He felt Casey stop moving, thus forcing Dakota to stop as well. What happened? Why'd they stop? He blinked a couple of times, eyes staring blankly off ahead as confusion formed on the rest of his face. What--? Casey began growling, and he could feel the bear's muscles tense. "U-um..." He stuttered out dumbly, trying to understand what just happened. There was a voice, and then Casey forced him to stop. Did something happen to the owner of the voice? There's a hole. ... Oh... Oh...

That's what happened.

"A-are... Are you... O-okay?" He tilted his head down a bit, hoping he was looking at whoever had tripped on the hole. If anything, he was a few inches off.

For a few moments, Felix just lay there. He really didn’t feel like getting up after that embarrassing spill. Though, just staying on the ground wasn’t much better. He lifted his head up, placing his chin on the rough pavement. The only upside to this situation is that his sunglasses didn’t break. With a huff, he rolled over, resting his arms on his knees. He didn’t feel like immediately answering the boy, first picking up his skateboard. “Damn,” he muttered at the sight of the broken wheel. Whelp, there goes another one. Now he was seriously going to get it when he went home. Maybe he’d just sit on the curb for a while. Yeah, that sounded. . .boring. Bleh. It’s funny, because he practically forgot the boy and his Ursaring was still there.

The confusion grew as his question wasn't answered. Was the person seriously hurt? Or... No, maybe they couldn't hear him over Casey's growling. The boy tugged on the bear's paw, keeping his gaze locked firmly on... well... nothing. The Ursaring's growling slowly came to an end, allowing Dakota to hear the person on the ground curse. Well, at least he wasn't dead! hehe... "E-excuse me?" He tried again, this time his words a little more audible, but not by much.

Maybe if I do this. . .? Krck! All he could really do was stare at the now completely broken off wheel. And stare. And stare some more. That. . .really sucks. He pushed himself to his feet, smacking the dirt off the back of his pants. “Huh? Oh, yeah,” he answered, finally remembering the kid was there. He stepped aside, gesturing forward with the sweep of an arm. “Go right ahead,” he replied, thinking that his “excuse me” was him wanting to pass. Maybe the hole wouldn’t claim his dignity, as well. Although, a pipsqueak such as himself probably didn’t have much. . .

His eyelids fluttered at least a thousand times in confusion. Go right ahead? He wasn't about to move until he knew if whoever it is was okay! Or until Casey drags him away. Either way, he wanted his question answered. Still not knowing where the stranger was, he simply stared straight ahead. "No, um... Sir, are you all right?" Dakota could tell that his voice shook, and he hated it.

At this point, the muse was really dying down. Something needed to happen. Anything? ANYTHING AT ALL? Well apparently the daughters of Zeus weren’t helping this fourth wall breakage today. Lovely.

Felix sat there in thought. Sir? I’ve been called many things, but sir is not one of them. He waved his hand dismissively, saying, “Worse things have happened.”

This wasn't awkward in the least! Nope... The boy glanced up in the general direction of Casey's face, giving her a questioning look. The bear in question didn't say anything, merely letting out a low grow while glowering at the blond on the ground. Casey really didn't like strangers, did she? Dakota gulped, turning his gaze to the person on the ground, though he knew he was probably a couple inches to far off from where he actually was. "Well, um... If... If you're fine, then... I... Um... Guess I'll be going..." He tugged slightly on the bear's hand, and the Ursaring began walking, guiding him over the hole. Casey turned her head back towards the boy on the ground, sticking out her tongue.

Felix wasn’t going to react to the immaturity of some oversized bear. Nah, that’d be ridiculous. Why on earth would he do that? Instead, he casually rose to his feet, dusting the dirt off. Well, time to go. Suddenly, he heard a wailing noise coming up behind him. He cast a quick glance over his shoulder, catching a police cruiser with flashing lights rounding the corner. Oh yeah, definitely time to go. He took off down the sidewalk, dancing around the dangerous hole that almost tripped him up again. He dashed past the two, slamming on the breaks to sidle up between the boy and the Pokémon. He kneeled down, whispering, “It would be a lot of help if you don’t sell me out to the fuzz.”

Were those sirens? Oh, man. Those were sirens! And they were getting closer. The boy halted once more as the Ursaring did, listening as the bear's growling blended in with the sirens. His muscles tensed up once more, blue eyes clenching shut as if that would make the sound go away. He did not like the sound of sirens. Dakota had to bite down on his lip to stop a not-so-manly squeak from emitting from his throat when the guy who had fallen kind of just appeared between them. Of course, the squeak made itself known, even if wasn't very loud. He listened intently to the voice, gulping and nodding. The fuzz? That was a weird way to word it, but oh well. The boy simply waiting for "the fuzz" to approach, his body already beginning to tremble.
